We came for leaf peeping, and it was amazing. 2.8 mile walk around the lake in the White Oak trail. We’ll be back, maybe often, and sometimes with mountain bikes. The tiny Discovery Center was worth a visit , too: most fun thing there is the recorded sounds of three kinds of owls who live in the park, two kinds of frogs and a beaver chewing a tree. :D Oh, they have LOTS of holiday lights up from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s weekend. We’ll be back! Best city park I’ve ever been to, actually.

Beautiful, well maintained, thriving with life!! And we went at the time of peak leaf colors. The Orientation Center is small and wonderful. A jewel in the area!!

Incredible campsites. We got the best site in the park for the week and had so much fun we didn’t want to leave. Definitely coming back as soon as possible!

You pay 6 dollars to use the archery range ..I have used this range multiple times and have reported the bags being shot out..I'm told by the desk clerk, "we'll we changed them in july". I was told another month by another employee. When addressed I was told we will let the park Rangers know. This is unacceptable. If you have to pay for a facility, then keep it up. After all that's what we pay for. This post was done on 10-19-2024. I've reported the issue past 3 weeks and longer. They don't even keep the grass cut on the range. Below are photos of the range taken on 10-19-2024. The issue is, things are reported and not fixed. Nor an attempt at that.
